Vue RIS Receives ONC-ATCB 2011-2012 Certification
Company’s Radiology Information System Certified as EMR Module That Meets First Stage of U.S. Meaningful Use Initiatives
ROCHESTER, N.Y., Nov. 1 — Carestream Health announced its CARESTREAM Vue RIS, v.11 is 2011/2012 compliant and was certified as an EHR Module by the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT®), an ONC-ATCB, in accordance with the applicable hospital and eligible provider certification criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
The criteria support the Stage 1 meaningful use measures required to qualify eligible providers and hospitals for funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).
“We believe our Vue RIS is one of the first standalone RIS platforms to satisfy meaningful use requirements. This makes it a very attractive offering for many healthcare providers, including imaging centers and smaller hospitals,” said Diana L. Nole, President, Digital Medical Solutions, Carestream Health. “This innovative software architecture also delivers cost savings since its broad functionality can eliminate the need to purchase and integrate multiple third-party systems.”
The ONC-ATCB 2011/2012 certification program tests and certifies that Complete EHRs meet all of the 2011/2012 criteria and EHR Modules meet one or more – but not all – of the criteria approved by the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) for eligible provider or hospital technology.
“CCHIT is pleased to be testing and certifying products so that companies are now able to offer these products to providers who wish to purchase and implement certified EHR technology and achieve meaningful use in time for the 2011-2012 incentives,” said Karen M. Bell, M.D., M.S.S., Chair, CCHIT.
Carestream Vue RIS, v. 11, certification ID CC-1112-747350-1, was certified as an EHR module On Oct. 26, 2011, under the hospital domain and meets the following certification criteria: 170.302 c-I, k-l, n-v, 170.306 b-c and h. The additional software used in testing included Speech Magic 6.
Carestream Vue RIS, v.11, certification ID CC-1112-747350-2, was certified as an EHR module under the eligible provider domain and meets the following certification criteria: 170.302 c-I, k-l, n-v, 170.304 c, e-f, h and j. The clinical quality measures to which this EHR Module has been certified include: NQF 0013, NQF 0024, NQF 0027, NQF 0028, NQF 0031, NQF 0038 and NQF 061. The additional software used in testing also included Speech Magic 6.
The Vue RIS collects and/or tracks receipt of the following data that meets the first phase of meaningful use requirements: patient demographics, vital signs, smoking status, immunization records, diseases, allergies and advanced directives for patients over 65. It also maintains an active patient medication list and tracks a number of ambulatory clinical quality measures.
Carestream’s RIS also provides embedded voice recognition and critical results reporting along with other popular features to address the needs of hospitals, healthcare systems and imaging centers worldwide.
In addition, the RIS delivers centralized patient scheduling and management reports that track patient referrals by physician and modality reading by each radiologist. A native ACR peer review feature tracks reviews of an original diagnosis by a second radiologist and meets requirements set by the American College of Radiology.
The Vue RIS also provides specialized auditing and tracking functions for mammography exams that enable organizations to become MQSA certified without the need for a separate mammography information system. RIS management tools also provide profitability rates for each modality, patient wait times and volumes by modality or location, and the ability to examine imaging workflows to eliminate bottlenecks or unnecessary tasks.
