Carestream Announces Availability of New Larger-Format DRX Plus Detectors

High-Resolution DRX Plus 43 x 43 cm Detectors Designed for Use in Carestream’s Room-Based Digital X-ray Systems

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Aug. 16 — Carestream announced availability of its new wireless and fixed DRX Plus 4343 detectors in both gadolinium (GOS) scintillator for general radiography and cesium (CsI) scintillator, which is ideal for pediatric and other dose-sensitive applications. The detectors are available in the United States and Canada as well as many countries in Europe, Asia and Latin America.

DRX Plus DetectorsThese 43 x 43 cm detectors can be used with Carestream’s DRX-Evolution Plus and DRX-Ascend systems, in addition to tabletop use. The wireless detector is ideal for use with the CARESTREAM DRX-Revolution mobile imaging system.

“We have modified the Buckys in our room-based systems to accept the larger-format DRX detectors. These detectors are ideal for chest X-rays, extremity exams and general radiography imaging studies and also can be used for bariatric patients,” said Sarah Verna, Carestream’s Global Marketing Manager for X-ray Solutions.

Carestream’s DRX Plus detectors offer rapid image capture to help users achieve a streamlined workflow and deliver higher DQE* (detective quantum efficiency) to enable improved image quality and lower dose. In addition, DRX Plus detectors can be submerged in one meter of water for 30 minutes without failure, which achieves IPX Level 7 rating for liquid resistance and the IEC standard 60529. A reduced weight and thinner profile allow even easier handling.

Other advantages include:

  • Tri- and bi-color LEDs that offer improved feedback of the detector status
  • A beam detect mode for room retrofits to eliminate the need for a cable connection to the generator. Image capture will automatically start when the detector senses the X-ray exposure; and
  • A fast frame rate that provides compatibility with advanced applications in the future.

The DRX-Evolution Plus maximizes imaging productivity and flexibility with an extended tube column, automated overhead tube designed for positioning convenience, high-performance Carestream generator and optional table to accommodate patients up to 705 pounds (320 kilograms).
