Press Releases
Carestream’s Paul Herro to Present at Materials Research Society, Rocky Mountain Section Meeting

WHO: Carestream Tollcoating is a premier provider of contract coating services specializing in the application of aqueous and solvent coatings on flexible substrates for medical device, display, battery components, electronic components, nanotechnology and imaging products.

Carestream Advanced Materials develops and manufactures flexible advanced materials of all types. Carestream is introducing a replacement for indium tin oxide transparent conductive electrodes developed in house, and is also active in partnering with other companies to bring new materials to market under various brands.

WHAT: While the use of Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) has dominated applications needing relatively transparent and conductive materials, it does have drawbacks. ITO is generally difficult and expensive to apply as a high-quality thin film. It is also a very brittle material, prone to cracking when used in applications where flexibility is needed. And as a material that is heavily used by the flat panel LCD industry, it is subject to large price variations. Paul Herro, Director, Corporate Development at Carestream Advanced Materials, will present primary alternatives to ITO and their features and benefits for end applications will be explored.

The Materials Research Society (MRS) is an organization of materials researchers from academia, industry, and government that promotes communication for the advancement of interdisciplinary materials research to improve the quality of life. MRS Sections provide a convenient forum for the discussion of materials issues of particular interest to scientists and engineers in that local community.
